Job summary

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a GIS Analyst for the Office of Natural Lands Management in Trenton, NJ. You will modernize geospatial data workflows, build server-based databases, and develop tools that support multiple users and reporting templates.

Responsibilities include scripting with ArcGIS Pro and Python, creating online forms, and integrating accounting/payments tracking. This role offers telework options and comprehensive public-sector benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree or a bachelor's degree with 2+ years in GIS/CS/Data Science and strong computational focus.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing workflows and GIS scripting.
  • Proficiency in Python or Arcade scripting for automation.
  • Ability to design server-based geodatabases accessible by multiple users.
  • Experience building relational databases and reporting tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize geospatial data processes from local directory to server-based data sources for concurrent use.
  • Create GIS scripting/modelling tools to automate geoprocessing.
  • Develop online data entry forms and host databases for process integration.
  • Develop/modernize a relational database management system integral to the process.
  • Develop/modernize a reporting application to integrate GIS data into letters.
  • Develop/modernize an accounting database to track requests, payments, and debits/credits.
  • Establish an online payment system with guidance from IT services.
