Job summary
City of Houston is seeking an experienced IT Professional - Applications (GIS ETL Developer) to design, build, and maintain automated GIS workflows. You will integrate data sources into ArcGIS platforms using ArcGIS Pro Model Builder, FME Workbench, and Python, publishing layers and maps for citywide use.
The role requires 5+ years in IT applications, a Bachelor's in CS or MIS, and strong SQL/Python skills, with opportunities for mentoring and enterprise-scale GIS tasks across ArcGIS platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or closely related field.
- At least five (5) years of technology experience supporting IT applications.
- Experience with GIS ETL processes using SQL and Python.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS platform products including ArcGIS Online/Enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage GIS ETL workflows using ArcGIS Pro ModelBuilder, FME Workbench, or Python to load data into geodatabases.
- Administer geodatabase access requests and enforce GIS data standards.
- Document data mappings, transformation rules, and technical designs.
- Publish and share GIS datasets across ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise systems.
- Assist with user accounts in ArcGIS Online/Portal, assign roles, and manage permissions.
- Monitor content usage for performance, optimization, and compliance.
- Collaborate with HITS teams to gather data requirements and resolve data issues.
- Support GIS project requests, workflow management, and documentation.
