Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking an Associate Planner to join the Data Analytics & Visualization Program Area within the Planning, Design & Development Department. The role focuses on GIS-focused planning tasks, data analysis, and visualization to support the rezoning program and city initiatives.

You will collaborate with multiple divisions to deliver accurate maps, datasets, and reports while following data publishing and security protocols.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in planning or a related field.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with geodatabase data model.
• One year professional planning experience required.
• Preferred familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Scenario Planning concepts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as GIS data analytics and mapping resource for rezoning and entitlement projects.
• Create GIS features, maps, and mailing lists to support the rezoning process.
• Assist Planning Divisions with data analysis and mapping requests.
• Support data analysis and mapping for major city initiatives such as Future 2040 plans.
• Collaborate with other city departments to ensure data publishing and security compliance.
