Job summary

Apex Companies seeks a GIS/Data Analyst 2 in California to support environmental, remediation, and asset management projects. You will perform GIS analysis, data management, and reporting while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to transform complex datasets into actionable information.

You will develop maps, dashboards, and data workflows, ensuring data quality and timely delivery for client projects across the environmental and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 3+ years of GIS and data management experience.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of relational databases and data management principles.
• Experience preparing professional maps and technical figures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and data quality.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative team player with a client-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• GIS Analysis & Mapping: Develop, maintain, and update GIS databases and geodatabases; create high-quality maps, figures, exhibits, and web-based mapping applications.
• Data Management & Analytics: Manage large environmental and engineering datasets; QA/QC reviews; develop dashboards and visualizations using GIS and BI tools.
• Technical Support: Support scientists, engineers, geologists, and project managers with mapping and data deliverables; prepare graphics for reports and client presentations.
• Client & Team Collaboration: Participate in planning, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and identify automation and data management opportunities.

Apex Companies is seeking a GIS/Data Analyst 2 to support environmental, remediation, compliance, asset management, and engineering projects throughout California. This role combines geospatial analysis, database management, data visualization, and technical support to help project teams deliver high-quality services to clients across the environmental and infrastructure sectors.

The ideal candidate is proficient in GIS software, spatial analysis, data management, and reporting, and enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams to transform complex datasets into actionable information.

Key Responsibilities

GIS Analysis & Mapping

• Develop, maintain, and update GIS databases and geodatabases.
• Create high-quality maps, figures, exhibits, and web-based mapping applications.
• Perform spatial analysis to support environmental investigations, remediation projects, permitting, compliance, and asset management programs.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, including field data collection systems, GPS equipment, databases, and client systems.

Data Management & Analytics

• Manage large environmental and engineering datasets.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of GIS and analytical data.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using GIS and business intelligence tools.
• Assist project managers in tracking project metrics, schedules, budgets, and performance data.

Technical Support

• Support environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, and project managers with mapping and data deliverables.
• Prepare technical graphics for reports, proposals, and client presentations.
• Maintain standardized workflows for data collection, storage, and reporting.
• Support implementation of enterprise GIS and data management initiatives.

Client & Team Collaboration

• Participate in project planning and technical meetings.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders regarding GIS and data requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and data management solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field.
