Brief Description

Job Summary:

Utilizes AutoCAD Civil 3D software to provide non-technical drafting support to engineers by preparing layouts and detail drawings for Geographic Information System (GIS). Possesses mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations. Makes simple decisions but refers most questions/problems to engineers or supervisor. Has a solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology. Must be able to understand verbal instructions from lead designer.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

• Knowledge of Nation CAD standard and formats
• Process basic verbal instruction from lead designer, EIT, PM or CAD Tech
• Help coordinate plans with GIS team when required
• Maintain folder structure and file naming conventions
• Understand standard Details and Blocks
• Back check own work
• Address and understand red-line drawings and mark-ups
• Prepare base drawing with all utilities
• Prepare Pipe Networks Drawing
• Master Live Pipe Networks Labeling
• Create working folders for data shortcuts
• Understand plats
• Have a general understanding of survey data and topo points
• Understand survey drawings
• Prepare deliverables of base drawing and pipe networks for GIS Department
• Create and modify map exhibits for special assignments
• Identify and implement production efficiencies
• Work independently from project managers
• Identify potential design conflicts and apply problem-solving skills
• Update CAD standards manual
• Collaborate with project team to meet deadlines and budgets
• Make corrections as requested by senior staff
• Organize and maintain file systems for drawings
• Follow CAD standards for drawing setup, scaling, labeling, and dimensioning
• Other duties as required

Education, Certification And Experience

• Associate degree or technical-school certificate or equivalent experience
