Job summary

Montgomery County Environmental Services Department seeks an intermediate GIS professional to support water, wastewater and solid waste system operations. You will create and modify map and data layers, perform QA/QC, run geospatial analyses, and provide technical support to internal and external customers.

The role includes automating data creation, cartographic design, compiling outputs such as maps and reports, and contributing to GPS/mobile data integration.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in GIS or closely related field, plus four (4) years of relevant work experience, training and/or experience; OR equivalent.
• Knowledge of GIS data creation, manipulation, QA/QC, and map production processes.
• Ability to analyze geospatial data and prepare outputs such as maps, reports, and charts.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify map and data layers for water, wastewater and solid waste systems.
• Perform QA/QC on GIS data and conduct routine geospatial analysis and reporting.
• Provide intermediate level technical support for GIS users and customers.
• Automate GIS data creation and cartographic design; produce outputs (maps, reports, charts).
• Train staff and interns; participate in GIS projects and cross‑functional teams.
