Job summary

Southwest Gas is seeking a GIS Analyst to serve as the local administrator for electronic mapping, drafting and facility information maintenance. The role requires maintaining GIS applications such as ESRI ArcGIS/ArcFM, AutoCAD, GPS software and PaperVision, while leading in the supervisor's absence.

The candidate will develop advanced spatial queries with Python/SQL, analyze data for state and DOT programs, and liaise between divisions and corporate GIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field; 1–3 years relevant experience, or 3–5 years in lieu of a degree.
• GIS platform and IT systems knowledge; knowledge of relational databases, SQL, Python or other programming languages preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Apply GIS theories, principles, software and data to produce complex maps, web applications and other spatial products to meet customer requirements.
• Develop and execute custom spatial queries using geoprocessing tools, Python and SQL to perform advanced analysis that identifies spatial data patterns and trends.
• Provide technical work guidance and lead division users on the GIS.
• Ensure overall accuracy and quality of GIS data and products per Operations Manual requirements.
• Maintain liaison with stakeholders and present project progress.
