Job summary

Washington County Government seeks a GIS Technician to verify and assign addresses, maintain digital data layers, and perform GIS analyses under the direction of the GIS Coordinator. It supports E-911 data, Open Space projects, and parcel datasets while creating maps for staff and public use.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in cartography, geography, GIS, planning or a related field.
• Experience using geographic information systems; Esri products preferred.
• A GIS certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public in verifying addresses and review address/road name data on permits, site plans and plats.
• Review aerial photos to determine building locations for addressing purposes.
• Perform field assessments to determine address accuracy.
• Verify and assign addresses/road names per County Addressing Ordinance and provide written correspondence as needed.
• Maintain County-wide addressing and road centerline layers for E-911 CAD system to data standards.
• Create and compile data, reports and maps for protected lands and Open Space projects.
• Maintain the County's vector parcel layer including historic records and CAD data submissions.
• Identify and reconcile data between parcel dataset and other GIS layers for consistency.
• Create maps for department staff reports and public meetings.
• Provide mailing lists via table data and mail merge processes.
• Create/update/maintain metadata for GIS layers.
