Job summary

The City of Walla Walla is seeking a GIS Technician to maintain our GIS, support GIS operations, and provide data to internal and external customers. You will digitize maps, input information, and produce reports and maps using ESRI ArcGIS Pro and related tools.

Collaborate with Engineering and City staff to promote GIS use, interpret legal descriptions into GIS via COGO, manage multiple projects, and ensure data accuracy across the enterprise geodatabase.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS technology or related field.
  • Four years of experience with GIS, GPS, and CAD.
  • Demonstrated knowledge interpreting legal descriptions and converting to COGO.
  • Valid State driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Research, digitize, and input information into the GIS system.
  • Create, maintain and update GIS utilities data from as-builts and field data.
  • Assist with coordination and promotion of GIS use among City departments.
  • Improve and document GIS processes and efficiencies.
  • Provide GIS support to internal and external customers.
  • Read and digitize legal descriptions into GIS using COGO.
  • Audit GIS databases and maintain enterprise geodatabase consistency.
  • Generate reports and maps for agency departments.
  • Coordinate multiple projects and meet defined deadlines.
