Job summary

The City of Cedar Hill is seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to support the city's geographic information systems and advance data‑driven decision making across departments. You will capture, edit, and maintain spatial data and produce accurate maps using ESRI software.

This role focuses on 911 address data management, planning, engineering, and utility GIS data while collaborating on geospatial solutions that support municipal operations and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems
• 3+ years of GIS experience with ESRI products
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise/Server, and SDE/SQL geodatabases
• Programming in Python, HTML5, SQL, FME
• Texas Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days
• Ability to read civil engineering drawings
• Familiarity with Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst is responsible for the creation, management, and maintenance of GIS data as well as management of GIS platforms and other routine geospatial processing tasks that are assigned. Primary duties include capturing and editing spatial and attribute data, creating maps using ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS Online, and assisting with Enterprise GIS setup. The GIS Analyst will also perform a variety of technical and skilled tasks in the operation of the City’s GIS with their main concentration on 911 address data management, planning, engineering, and utility GIS data. The position reports to the GIS Manager and does not supervise others within the department.

What You Bring to the Role:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (from an accredited college, university, or technical institution) with major coursework in Geographic Information Systems. Any equivalent combination of experience or training which provides the knowledge or abilities to perform assigned work will also be evaluated.
• Advanced or thorough knowledge of GIS, computer-aided drafting, and GPS operation including data creation, data processing, and map production, using any combination of ESRI products and extensions.
• At least three years of experience in the application and implementation of GIS with practical experience in the following: ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise/Server, and SDE/SQL geodatabases.
• Knowledge and experience with the following programming languages: Python, HTML5, SQL, FME, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
• Familiarity with ESRI Local Government Solutions. Municipal GIS-related experience is preferred.
• Must possess State of Texas Driver’s License or obtain one within thirty days of hire.
• Ability to read and comprehend civil engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.
