Job summary

Aquilon in Long Beach, CA is seeking a talented swimwear designer to join our collaborative team. You will conduct ongoing trend and market research for juniors and big girls, translate insights into color directions, silhouettes, fabrics and trim, and build mood boards and trend recaps.

Create CADs and tech flats, develop well merchandised assortments, and collaborate with design, graphic design, technical design, 3D design and product development.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing swimwear for juniors or big girls with strong market sense and eye for trend, color, construction and fit.
• Talented and passionate about swimwear design.
• Highly organized and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Team oriented and collaborative.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for a bi-coastal team.
• Detail-oriented.
• Highly skilled at creating CADs in Illustrator and recoloring prints in Photoshop.

• Conduct ongoing trend and market research, identifying both emerging and declining trends and translate them appropriately for the big girl and tween market.
• Collaborate with design team to identify key trends, color direction, silhouettes, fabrics and trim and build mood boards and trend recaps to reflect these.
• Bring new ideas to life in CADs and create tech flats.
• Work closely with the rest of the design team to build well merchandised assortments.
• Collaborate with graphic design on print development and color combos.
• Work closely with design, graphic design, technical design, 3D design and product development.
• Check colors and engravings in strike offs and convey comments to overseas team.
