Job summary

White Salmon Valley School District is seeking a Girls’ Soccer Head Coach for Columbia High School for the 2026-27 school year. The position pays $3,672-$4,659 per season and is a stand-alone role without benefits.

The coach will supervise the soccer program across all levels, set objectives for the season, mentor assistant coaches, ensure compliance with WIAA and district policies, and coordinate with the Athletic Director on all administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply rules in the WIAA Handbook, League Handbook, and Athletic/Activity Handbook.
• Assist Athletic Activity Director as needed.
• Maintain ethical conduct and professionalism in all interactions.
• Submit volunteer coach information 30 days prior to the season.
• Meet with JV, freshman, and C-Squad assistants to prepare for the season.
• Review and revise program philosophy, materials, training, and practice plans.
• Submit eligibility roster to the Athletic Director.
• Verify inventory and issue uniforms.
• Meet with athletes and parents at the pre-season meeting to review policies.
• Implement procedures per Athletic/Activity Handbook.
• Maintain care of equipment and facilities used.
• Process purchase orders with ASB and District as needed.
• Supervise all coaches in the program.
• Organize and schedule practice sessions with daily lesson plans.
• Apply discipline per handbooks and regulations.
• Ensure building rules are understood and enforced.
• Emphasize safety, stay current on injury procedures, and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Instruct players on rules and rule changes.
• Advise athletes on potential injuries and safety considerations.
• Develop sport-specific handouts for athletes.
• Conduct teams and self professionally at all times.
• Provide summaries of contests and share related publicity information.

General Position Summary:

Supervise program and coaches for all competition levels in assigned sport.

YEAR-ROUND RESPONSIBILITIES

Formulate objectives for the coming sport season.

Mentor, develop and evaluate assistant coaches throughout the season.

Have understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations as presented in the WIAA Handbook, League Handbook, and Athletic/Activity Handbook.

Assist Athletic Activity Director as needed.

Conduct proper procedures for out-of-season practices and procedures, according to WIAA and Athletic Department regulations.

Maintain membership in a professional organization such as the Coaches Association and/or Washington State Coaches Association.

The coach must constantly uphold the honor and dignity of the profession. In all personal contact with the student athlete, officials, Athletic/Activity directors, school administrators, the WIAA, the media and the public, the coach shall strive to set an example of the high ethical and moral conduct.

PRE-SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES

Meet with Athletic Director to review procedures as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook.

Submit volunteer coach information to the Athletic Director 30 days prior to the season.

Meet with assistants (JV, freshman, C-Squad) to prepare for upcoming season.

Review and revise program philosophy, materials, training, practice, etc.

The Head Coach will submit an eligibility roster to the Athletic Director.

Verify inventory and arrange for a systemic issuance of school equipment/uniforms.

Meet with athletes and parents at the scheduled pre-season meeting to issue and review Student Activities Handbook, policies, practices, philosophy and all paperwork.

IN-SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement procedures as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook.

Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.

Follow carefully the procedure for initiating purchase orders – ASB and District purchase orders working with the Athletic Director for all purchases.

Assume supervisory control over all phases of teams and Assistant Coaches in program.

Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with daily lesson plans that reflect instruction of teaching proper playing techniques.

Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook and Student Handbook.

See that the building regulations are understood and enforced.

Emphasize safety precautions, be aware of current training and injury procedures and have a current First Aid Card/CPR card.

Instruct players concerning rules and rule changes.

Advise athletes at pre-season meeting as to possible injuries that can be incurred by participating in your sport.

Develop a sport specific handout to be given to each athlete.

Always conduct self and teams in a professional manner.
