Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Coach (Sports) to mentor students in extended day activities at McQueen High School in Reno, NV. The role emphasizes safety, sportspersonship, and positive discipline under the supervision of the Principal and Athletic Director.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and preferably a Nevada Teaching Certificate, with CPR certification required for athletic activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules, theory, and regulations for the activity.
• Ability to lead and build rapport with students; organize practices and contests.
• Strong verbal and written communication; supervise students; promote sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Develops rapport with students and provides sound leadership; acts as a role model of good sportsmanship; applies discipline fairly and according to procedures.
• Maintains cooperation with Principal and Athletic Director and communicates program status, trips, games, etc.
• Develops a sound system for accountability, upkeep and protection of equipment.
• Develops good public relations in the school and community.
• Attends contests and practice sessions.
• Completes reports evaluating the activity and makes recommendations for improvements.
