Job summary

North Kansas City Schools is seeking an assistant high school girls swim coach for the 2026-27 season. This district-wide, part-time role offers a stipend per the district supplemental salary schedule and starts immediately. Applicants must hold a Missouri teaching or substitute certificate and have coaching experience or potential.

You will assist in skill development, plan practices, coordinate with the athletic director and Head Coach, and help maintain records and equipment.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESE.
• Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Assists in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the sport involved.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
• Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
• Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Other duties as required or assigned.
