Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport assigned; prior coaching experience preferred.
• Familiar with IHSAA and NFHS rules for the sport.
• IHSAA/NFHS coaching certification preferred (training available).
• First Aid and CPR certification; knowledge of concussion protocol (training available).
• Ability to communicate with parents and students.
• Ability to handle blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
• Ability to foster positive student-athlete relationships and work with community.
• Criminal history and DCS clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Develop activities for the assigned sport, including practice and competition schedules and inventories.
• Notify student athletes of policies, procedures, and training rules.
• Emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, character and discipline.
• Supervise student athletics during practices and events and correct conduct as needed.
• Monitor academics to ensure eligibility.
• Coordinate and secure facilities and equipment for the team.
• Maintain team roster and records.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director.
• Provide leadership promoting positive attitudes and sportsmanship.
• Work with student athletes in a fair, understanding and patient manner.
• Promote school and community interest in the sport assigned.
• Hold preseason or postseason parent meetings.
• Ensure physical examinations and forms are completed and submitted.
• Maintain association membership and required trainings.
