Job summary

Woodland Middle School in Barrington, New Jersey is seeking a dedicated Middle School Girls Basketball Head Coach to lead our program.

You will plan practices, oversee games, and help student-athletes develop skill, discipline, and sportsmanship, while ensuring compliance with district and state requirements. The role emphasizes positive leadership, teamwork, and a safe, encouraging environment after school winter season.

Qualifications

• Previous basketball playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and team strategies.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with student-athletes while maintaining appropriate expectations and boundaries.
• Commitment to developing student-athletes and building a positive school athletic program.
• Must meet all district and state requirements for coaching positions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct organized, age-appropriate practices focused on basketball fundamentals, skill development, team concepts, conditioning, and game preparation.
• Lead and supervise the team during practices, games, and other team related activities.
• Develop a positive team culture centered on respect, teamwork, accountability, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Teach appropriate basketball skills, strategies, rules, and game concepts.
• Provide meaningful opportunities for student-athlete behavior, attendance, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, school staff, and the Athletic Department.
• Maintain appropriate expectations for student-athlete behavior, attendance, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Follow all district, athletic department, league, and NJSIAA requirements and policies.
• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Woodland Middle School and the Barrington School District.
