Billings Public Schools seeks a Gifted and Talented/Quest Teacher (K-8) across multiple locations for the 2026-2027 school year. The position follows the BEA salary schedule and offers year-round insurance, TRS retirement, and discretionary/sick days.

Candidates must have Montana Teaching Certificate, a Bachelor's in Education, and successful teaching experience, with a commitment to developing gifted learners through flexible programming and collaborative work with families and staff.

Responsabilidades

• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science using adopted curricula and gifted practices.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter per state law and district procedures.
• Develop lesson plans and individualized/small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil progress.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with staff to assess and address health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Create an effective learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and activity centers.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education and growth activities.
• Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the day.
• Administer group standardized tests as per district testing program.
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.

JOB GOAL

To create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of identified gifted learners in Billings Public Schools; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):

• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Trustees, Gifted best practices, and other appropriate learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the District's testing program.
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
