Responsibilities

• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils following the adopted curriculum and gifted best practices.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and core subjects as per state law and district procedures.
• Develop lesson plans and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet each pupil’s needs.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Establish and maintain behavior standards to create a productive learning environment.
• Evaluate pupil progress and maintain records; prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents to discuss pupil progress and school program.
• Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to support health, attitude, and learning needs.
• Create a conducive learning environment with engaging displays and centers.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service and self-directed growth.
• Supervise pupils during the day and administer group standardized tests.
• Participate in curriculum development, faculty committees, and pupil activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. Valid Montana Teaching Certificate
• 2. Bachelors degree in Education
• 3. Successful teaching experience

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):

• 1. Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Trustees, Gifted best practices, and other appropriate learning activities.
• 2. Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.
• 3. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• 4. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• 5. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• 6. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• 7. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
• 8. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• 9. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
• 10. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and self-selected professional growth activities.
• 11. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• 12. Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the District's testing program.
• 13. Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• 14. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
