Job summary

UPMC's Gift Shop is seeking a part-time Clerk I to provide friendly, prompt service to customers in Harrisburg. The role requires stocking, pricing, operating the register, and assisting customers with gift selections.

The position supports weekends and evenings, with shifts up to 20 hours per week, and involves maintaining a clean, safe shop environment in a hospital setting. High school diploma and retail experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of retail sales experience.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality control of outgoing merchandise.
• Assist customers with gift/flower suggestions and refer complaints to Manager of Clerk II.
• Work weekends, evenings or holidays as needed.
• Stock candy, magazines and merchandise daily as necessary.
• Operate cash register and Lottery machine, open and close Shop.
• Inform Manager or Clerk II when stock items or supplies are low and need re-ordering.
• Maintain shop (dusting, cleaning, rubbish removal) for safety and aesthetics.
• Conform to The Basics of Service Excellence per orientation program.
• Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls appropriately.
• Receive incoming merchandise, check invoices, unpack and assist with pricing as directed by Manager or Clerk II.
• Count change bank, Lottery bank and reconcile Lottery receipts at end of day.

Schedule:

A true casual position for call offs, PTO, etc. can work up to 20 hours per week. The gift shop is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm depending on the hospital. Weekends are included from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, no holidays! Will support Harrisburg, Community, West Shore, and Memorial depending on staffing needs. Reliable transportation is required.

Purpose:

Provides prompt, courteous service to the customers of the gift shop.

Responsibilities:
