Job summary

Inova Loudoun Surgery Center is seeking a GI/Endoscopy Technician for full-time or part-time roles, with 8 or 10 hour shifts. You will prep and maintain endoscopic equipment, assist during procedures, and support patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Prior Endoscopy Technician training and BLS certification are required or preferred, with opportunities to advance within infection control and operating room workflows. Benefits include health coverage and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience as an Endoscopy/GI Technician preferred.
• Experience in an acute or ambulatory setting is desired.
• Completion of Endoscopy Technician Training.
• BLS certification required upon start.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Preparation and Maintenance: set up, calibrate, and ensure high-level disinfection of endoscopic instruments and equipment.
• Procedure Assistance: hand instruments to physician, assist with specimen collection, ensure patient comfort.
• Patient Preparation and Post-Procedure Care: prepare patients, provide support, assist with positioning and room turnover.
• Infection Control and Safety Compliance: follow infection control guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Documentation and Communication: record details accurately and communicate with clinical staff.

Job description

Inova Loudoun Surgery Center is currently hiring at Full-Time or Part-Time GI/Endoscopy Technician to work 8 or 10 hour shifts.

The Endoscopy/GI Technician plays an essential role in supporting endoscopic procedures, focusing on equipment preparation, patient care, and assisting clinical staff. Working under the direction of nurses and gastroenterologists, the Endoscopy/GI Technician ensures that all necessary equipment is sterile, operational, and ready for use, and helps maintain a safe, clean environment for patients throughout their procedures.

Schedule: Days, 8 or 10 hour shift

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Equipment Preparation and Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, and ensure high-level disinfection (HLD) of all endoscopic instruments and equipment. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance as needed
• Procedure Assistance: Support the clinical team during endoscopic procedures by handing instruments to the physician, assisting with specimen collection, and ensuring the patient's comfort
• Patient Preparation and Post-Procedure Care: Help prepare patients for procedures, provide support and reassurance, and assist with patient positioning. Aid in the post-procedure process, including cleaning and preparing the room for the next patient
• Infection Control and Safety Compliance: Follow strict infection control guidelines, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment, rooms, and instruments according to regulatory standards
• Documentation and Communication: Record procedure details, patient information, and any instrument usage or issues accurately. Communicate with clinical staff to ensure a smooth flow of operations

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year experience as an Endoscopy/GI Technician preferred
• Experience in an acute or ambulatory setting is desired
• High school diploma or equivalent certification
• Completion of Endoscopy Technician Training
• The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Advanced Program completion, a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon start
• Strong understanding of sterile processing and infection control procedures
