Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience as an Endoscopy/GI Technician.
• Experience in an acute or ambulatory setting is desired.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• Completion of Endoscopy Technician Training.
• SGAS/Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Advanced Program completion is a plus.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon start.
• Strong understanding of sterile processing and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Preparation and Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, and ensure high-level disinfection (HLD) of all endoscopic instruments and equipment.
• Procedure Assistance: Support the clinical team during endoscopic procedures by handing instruments to the physician and assisting with specimens.
• Patient Preparation and Post-Procedure Care: Prepare patients, provide support and comfort, assist with positioning and post-procedure room turnover.
• Infection Control and Safety Compliance: Follow infection control guidelines, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment, rooms, and instruments.
• Documentation and Communication: Record procedure details, patient information, and instrument usage; communicate with staff to ensure workflow.

Job description

Inova Loudoun Surgery Center is currently hiring at Full-Time or Part-Time GI/Endoscopy Technician to work 8 or 10 hour shifts.

The Endoscopy/GI Technician plays an essential role in supporting endoscopic procedures, focusing on equipment preparation, patient care, and assisting clinical staff. Working under the direction of nurses and gastroenterologists, the Endoscopy/GI Technician ensures that all necessary equipment is sterile, operational, and ready for use, and helps maintain a safe, clean environment for patients throughout their procedures.

Schedule: Days, 8 or 10 hour shift

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Equipment Preparation and Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, and ensure high-level disinfection (HLD) of all endoscopic instruments and equipment. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance as needed
• Procedure Assistance: Support the clinical team during endoscopic procedures by handing instruments to the physician, assisting with specimen collection, and ensuring the patient's comfort
• Patient Preparation and Post-Procedure Care: Help prepare patients for procedures, provide support and reassurance, and assist with patient positioning. Aid in the post-procedure process, including cleaning and preparing the room for the next patient
• Infection Control and Safety Compliance: Follow strict infection control guidelines, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment, rooms, and instruments according to regulatory standards
• Documentation and Communication: Record procedure details, patient information, and any instrument usage or issues accurately. Communicate with clinical staff to ensure a smooth flow of operations

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year experience as an Endoscopy/GI Technician preferred
• Experience in an acute or ambulatory setting is desired
• High school diploma or equivalent certification
• Completion of Endoscopy Technician Training
• The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Advanced Program completion, a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon start
• Strong understanding of sterile processing and infection control procedures
