Job summary

The Surgery Center of Ft. Lauderdale is seeking a GI Technician to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This full-time role supports RNs by preparing patients for procedures and caring for them after surgery.

You will help with pre/post op duties, monitor vital signs, maintain sterile supplies, transport patients, and assist with documentation and safety programs.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate required, some college preferred.
  • Experience or interest in healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of GI procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Registered Nurse in preparing the patient for surgery and assists with post-op care.
  • Checks pre/post op area for cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Brings the patient to pre-op area and assists with changing if needed.
  • Takes vital signs.
  • Makes sure all pre-op testing, H&P, and necessary paperwork are on chart prior to surgical procedure.
  • Transports patients to and from procedure rooms.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Restocks carts.
  • Directs family members.
  • Includes family/patient in post-op instructions.
  • Coordinates patient transportation.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Participates in QAPI, Infection Control and Safety Program.

About The Opportunity

The pre and post-op technician in the surgery center is a trained technician who assists the Registered Nurse in preparing patients for procedures, and caring for them post-op.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
