Job summary

The Surgery Center of Ft. Lauderdale is seeking a GI Technician in Fort Lauderdale, FL, to join our full-time team. You will assist the RN with pre- and post-operative care, help maintain clean and orderly pre/post areas, and transport patients as needed.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, ensuring all pre-op testing, H&P, and paperwork are on chart, and supporting family members during post-op instructions. The role emphasizes safety and infection control within our ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required; some college preferred.
• Experience or interest in healthcare industry.
• Knowledge of GI procedures.

The pre and post-op technician in the surgery center is a trained technician who assists the Registered Nurse in preparing patients for procedures, and caring for them post-op.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse in preparing the patient for surgery and assists with post-op care.
• Checks pre/ post op area for cleanliness and orderliness.
• Brings the patient to pre-op area and assists with changing if needed.
• Takes vital signs.
• Makes sure all pre-op testing, H&P, and necessary paperwork are on chart prior to surgical procedure.
• Transports patients to and from procedure rooms.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Restocks carts.
• Directs family members.
• Includes family / patient in post-op instructions.
• Coordinates patient transportation.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
• Participates in QAPI, Infection Control and Safety Program.

About The Candidate
