UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill seeks a Health Unit Coordinator for the GI Surgery Acute Care Unit (6 Memorial). This 40-hour-per-week, on-site position provides clerical and administrative support to a multidisciplinary nursing team and helps ensure timely communication of orders.

Qualifications

• One year of clerical or customer service experience preferred.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and supports nursing staff with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes and communicates physician orders to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.
• Maintains complete patient charts, files in appropriate sections, and ensures proper patient identification.
• Orders office supplies, maintains unit equipment, and conducts safety checks.
• Answers and directs telephone calls, relays messages, and supports the healthcare team with information and admin tasks.
