Job summary

Nestlé in Des Moines, IA is seeking a GI Specialty Sales Representative (Pharma) to drive sales for the full portfolio across Iowa, focusing on GI/Critical Care targets and key accounts.

You will educate healthcare providers on a novel GI therapy, develop territory business plans, build long‑term relationships with decision makers, and collaborate with hospital teams on transition of care.

A bachelor’s degree and a proven track record of meeting sales targets are required, with up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of medical/clinical selling experience with demonstrated success in specialty medical products, OR High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years combined experience in pharma or medical sales with demonstrated success and clinical experience (equivalent combinations will be considered).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Consistent track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to develop solid, long‑standing business relationships with strategic/targeted customers.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Readiness for 50% or more travel to develop internal and external relationships.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth among GI/Critical Care target specialists and new accounts; meet or exceed sales and profit objectives in assigned accounts.
  • Educate targeted healthcare providers on the benefits of a novel GI therapy within the assigned territory.
  • Understand the GI healthcare environment and execute the sales process in a concise, compliant, professional, and persuasive manner, addressing a need and leading the customer to action.
  • Develop and communicate deep scientific understanding of GI disorders, the assigned product, and competitive products within the GI marketplace.
  • Cultivate and maintain long‑term business relationships with key accounts and key opinion leaders within the GI community.
  • Develop and implement a territory‑specific business plan and utilize all available resources to foster a successful sales environment.
  • Effectively convey complex clinical and reimbursement product information to key stakeholders in a highly competitive marketplace.
  • Execute a customer‑centric, needs‑based selling approach with targeted healthcare providers.
  • Use the sales reporting systems regularly for call preparation, to record and track sales activity, and to gather market intelligence data.
  • Organize meetings and deliver content to health‑care professionals on GI and nutrition topics, aligned with tangible account objectives and metrics defined by the customer.
  • Conduct promotional programs for both professional and patient audiences.
  • Attend local, regional, and national meetings as directed.

Job Summary

The GI Specialty Sales Representative (Pharma) will manage sales performance for the full portfolio within an assigned geographic territory, executing marketing strategies to grow business relationships with key decision makers and influencers. The role includes focused detailing to specific targets, delivering a messaging strategy and call sequence that leverages evidence-based business and value solutions, and supporting the GI platform. This position also collaborates with IDN hospital personnel regarding transition of care and discharge protocols.

Territory
  • The entire state of Iowa, with preference given to candidates located in or within commutable distance to Des Moines, IA.

Compensation

Approximate pay range: $115,000 to $125,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
