Job summary

Sanford Health in Wisconsin is seeking a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced GI care in collaboration with a gastroenterologist. The NP will assess patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage acute and chronic GI conditions.

The role includes performing and interpreting diagnostic tests (endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsies), prescribing therapies, educating patients, and maintaining thorough documentation in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
• National board certification as an AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG; other Family/Adult certifications may apply.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive history and physical exams for GI patients.
• Diagnose and manage GI disorders including GERD, IBS, IBD, hepatitis, liver disease, and screening."
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsies, labs, and imaging.
• Collaborate with gastroenterologists and multidisciplinary teams to plan care.
• Prescribe medications and therapies per state regulations and policies.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure education and follow-up care.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families on nutrition, lifestyle, and disease management.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and participate in quality improvement.
