Job summary

Borland Groover, a leading gastroenterology practice in Jacksonville, is seeking a Medical Assistant to coordinate patient care under provider guidance. The MA will support clinical operations, educate patients, and assist with exams and vaccines in a fast-paced specialty setting.

Responsibilities include chart reviews, patient education, medication management, and prior-authorization processing, with PHI handling and HIPAA compliance emphasized. Travel to other offices may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CMA certification preferred but not required.
• BLS certification required or able to obtain within 90 days.
• 1 year of experience with patients in hospital or office setting preferred.
• Completion of medical assisting program or an associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, record vitals, history, medications, and allergies.
• Support patient flow and patient experience in a busy gastroenterology clinic.
• Pre-check charts and ensure all results/records are ready for review.
• Assist provider with exams and administer vaccines as ordered.
• Handle calls, messages, and triage within MA scope.
• Document in EHR and process prescriptions/refills.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and PHI handling.
• Travel to other offices as needed.
