Job summary

Raleigh Medical Group in Raleigh, NC is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to support our Gastroenterology practice. The MA will provide clinical support, prepare patients for exams, and assist providers with procedures in a fast-paced specialty setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least one year of medical office experience with an EHR, and strong communication and organizational skills. Experience in gastroenterology is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of medical office experience utilizing an EHR system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care and administers medications and treatments as directed.
• Rooms and prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
• Assists providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor procedures.
• Obtains and documents patient health histories, vital signs, and clinical information.
• Collects biological samples and performs basic lab-related tasks.
• Documents patient assessments and results in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Triages non-emergent patient calls using established protocols.
• Coordinates procedures, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Processes prescription refill requests following provider direction.
• Reinforces provider instructions and distributes patient education materials.
• Assists with preparation and coordination of GI procedures.
