Job summary

The GI LAB RN at Olympia Fields Hospital provides direct and indirect patient care for surgical and invasive procedures in the GI lab, coordinating with physicians and the care team to ensure safe, efficient treatment for all ages. The role emphasizes rapid response to patient changes, adherence to hospital policies, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year experience in an acute care or outpatient surgery setting or G.I. lab.
• Completed Moderate Sedation competency within 30 days upon hire required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care for adolescents, adults and older adults undergoing surgical and/or invasive procedures.
• Communicate with physicians, co-workers and nursing leadership about the patient’s clinical condition and diagnostic results.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure continuous, quality patient care and efficient unit operations.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities and serve as a resource for staff.

Education

Registered Nurse License

BCLS Certification

ACLS Certification

Moderate Sedation competency

1 year acute care/outpatient surgery/GI lab experience
