Job summary

Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support the GI team. You will assist during endoscopic procedures, prepare the endoscopy suite, handle specimen collection, and ensure equipment is clean and ready for diverse procedures.

The role requires on-call availability, a high school diploma, and CPR certification, with experience in endoscopy or endoscope processing preferred. This is a bi-campus position within the GI department.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum Work Experience: Endoscopy experience or endoscope processing experience preferred.
• Minimum Licenses and Certifications: AHA CPR certification required or need to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Positive attitude, flexibility and self-direction are a must; on call per departmental needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean and comfortable environment for patients and visitors, prepares endoscopy suite according to procedure requirements.
• Removes hazards from environment immediately to prevent safety hazards.
• Prioritizes and re-prioritizes work based on patient needs.
• Assists patient, physician and nurse during endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, EGD, colonoscopy, Bravo, ERCP.
• Sets up, prepares and maintains field, equipment and scopes for endoscopy procedures.
• Cleans, disinfects, calibrates and maintains all endoscopes and related equipment.
• Assists physicians with treatments and procedures including biopsies and specimen collection.
• Maintains and/or repairs endoscopic equipment including dictation system.
