Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle (WA) seeks a Sr. Sustainability Specialist to embed carbon considerations in siting and design of AWS infrastructure.

You will build advanced carbon accounting methods and own the GHG inventory, driving cross-team collaboration across energy, real estate, and data center design. You will lead methodology development and communicate results to executives, ensuring data integrity and audit-ready reporting for Scope 1–3.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data/Statistics, or related field, or 6+ years of equivalent experience.
• 5+ years developing and executing environmental sustainability or GHG inventory programs.
• Fluency with AI/GenAI tools and vision for automating low-value analytics.
• Experience obtaining, managing, and analyzing carbon and energy data.
• Experience applying carbon accounting methodologies (operational/embodied).
• Experience leading programs with multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Experience working across technical and business functions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with infrastructure planning, real estate, energy, and data center teams to embed carbon considerations.
• Develop and operationalize new carbon accounting methodologies for operational/embodied emissions.
• Own and mature the AWS GHG inventory with improved data quality and boundary definitions.
• Serve as SME on carbon accounting within the group and with partner teams.
• Measure carbon impacts of infra and programs and communicate results to leadership.
• Deliver programs with metrics, reporting, and multi-team data inputs.
• Bring a solutions-oriented mindset to measurement challenges.
