Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an investigator to conduct financial crime investigations, analyze complex customer and transactional data, and determine risk-based decisions. The role supports regulatory compliance and quality standards while documenting findings for review by regulators and internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will navigate multiple investigative systems, maintain urgency, and communicate findings clearly.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years in AML or financial crimes investigation.
  • Familiarity with transaction monitoring and case management systems.
  • CAMS certification (or working toward it) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Completes investigations to meet or exceed quality and production expectations.
  • Completes Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) in a timely and accurate manner for submission to regulators and/or law enforcement.
  • Reports facts of the investigation to senior stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial transactions to assess whether activity is suspicious and warrants further investigation.
  • Manage the full investigation lifecycle, from initial review through documentation and resolution.
  • Gather and evaluate relevant information to support sound decision-making throughout the investigative process.

This role is responsible for conducting financial crime investigations to identify, assess, and elevate potentially suspicious activity. Investigators analyze complex customer and transactional information, evaluate risk, identify patterns that may indicate financial crimes, and determine appropriate next steps based on the facts and available evidence.

Successful investigators apply sound judgment, professional curiosity, and critical thinking to reach well-supported conclusions. They clearly document investigative findings, articulate risk-based decisions, and ensure work is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, enterprise policies, and quality standards. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple investigations while producing work that withstands regulatory and independent review.
