Valley Health in Winchester, VA, seeks a Mental Health Associate to collaborate with nursing staff and the treatment team, providing patient advocacy, empathetic communication, and skilled de-escalation to support safe, therapeutic care.

You will assist with nursing procedures, contribute to group activities, maintain therapeutic milieu, and participate in safety checks and documentation, under RN/LPN direction, while upholding Valley Health values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Psychology, Sociology, Social Science or related field.
• Five years of experience in psychiatric care preferred.
• BLS Certification required; new hires must have AHA certificate prior to orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining a therapeutic milieu and safety checks.
• Assists nurse in providing and coordinating patient care under RN/LPN direction.
• Completes leading groups and facilitates activities as designated.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and accurate documentation.
