Job summary

The Fredericksburg VA Health Care Center (FxHCC) seeks a physician leader to serve as Section Chief of Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC). The role combines administrative, clinical, and programmatic duties to guide geriatric and non-institutional care across HBPC, PACT, and outpatient clinics.

Expect to supervise staff, collaborate with the IDT, participate in quality improvement, travel to affiliated clinics, and provide clinical care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible under VA policy.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine.
• Residency training approved by ACGME/AOA or equivalent.
• Board certification/eligibility for specialty.
• Proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in PACT clinics, HBPC, and outpatient services.
• Supervise clinical staff and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Lead Geriatrics & Extended Care programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with IDT and program leadership for quality improvement.
• Conduct home visits and travel to affiliated clinics as needed.
