Job summary

North Ridge Health and Rehab in New Hope, MN is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to join our clinical team. This full-time role focuses on planning and implementing a therapeutic recreation program that meets the physical, mental, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of our residents.

The successful candidate will have a special interest in geriatric care, be able to follow written and oral directions, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate must have a special interest in working with geriatric residents.
• Must learn and follow therapeutic recreational techniques and documentation procedures.
• Ability to generate enthusiasm during programs and be willing to participate in special events.
• Excellent communication skills are needed.
• The ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Applicants certified in Therapeutic Recreation are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Planning and conducting activity programs under direct supervision; assisting with outings; recruiting and transporting residents to and from programs; conducting one to one therapeutic visit with residents; assisting in planning special events; responsible for a caseload of residents and records daily attendance; gives input for care/family conferences; assisting with decorations and publicity of therapeutic programs
