Joint Township District Memorial Hospital is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant to provide geriatric-focused recreational therapy. Duties include rapid assessments, collaborating on treatment plans with the care team, and supporting discharge planning and patient/family teaching.

Shifts vary, including 8:00 AM–4:30 PM and 12:30 PM–9:00 PM, with every-other-weekend and holiday rotations. Prior recreation experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Basic skills in evaluating and treating geriatric patients.
• Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Therapeutic Recreation Assistant Certification preferred but not required.

Responsabilités

• Completes assessments of patient’s leisure training needs, abilities, and barriers within 24 hours of admission.
• Obtains information on patient’s previous leisure pursuits and interests to guide activities.
• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team on Individualized Treatment Plans.
• Evaluates patient’s ability and interest in new leisure activities given current disabilities.
• Monitors patient response to the treatment plan and adjusts as needed.
• Participates in discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
