Job summary

Emerald Healthcare in Woodmere, NY is seeking a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in a geriatric population. The SLP will work with residents and an interdisciplinary team to improve quality of life in a skilled nursing setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, NY licensure, and ASHA CCC-SLP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York HERE.
• Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive, communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
• Treatment and Intervention: Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.
• Adapt treatment techniques to meet the specific needs and goals of each resident.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families; participate in care planning meetings.
• Provide education and training to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
• Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
• Ensure all practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.
