Job summary

Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide compassionate, evidence-based rehabilitation under a licensed Physical Therapist. Role focuses on improving mobility and independence for residents in a skilled nursing setting.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited PTA associate degree, Hawaii PTA license in good standing, and BLS certification, with 0–4 years of clinical PTA experience; geriatrics experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited PTA program.
• Current Hawaii PTA license in good standing.
• Current BLS certification.
• 0–4 years of PTA experience; geriatric rehab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized PTA treatment plans under supervision to improve mobility, strength, balance, and independence.
• Monitor progress, assist with evaluations and discharge planning, and document accurately in EMR.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment plans and exercises.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support safe transitions and positive outcomes.
• Maintain infection prevention and regulatory compliance while pursuing professional development.
