Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Nursing Department Assistant for the Geriatric Psych unit at Lutheran Hospital. The role provides daily living support, helps with patient care tasks under RN supervision, and ensures a safe, clean environment.

You will assist with EKGs, glucose monitoring, specimen collection, and vital sign documentation as part of the care team. Requires a High School Diploma or GED; STNA preferred and BLS required within the new hire period.

Qualifications

• Ability to resolve conflict constructively and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a wide variety of patient care tasks and collaborate with health care team.
• Organize patient care assignments to ensure timely delivery and completion.
• Seek assistance for difficult tasks or problem solving.
• Document care provided in patient records.
• Label specimens properly.
• Ask patients about pain and report to RN/LPN as needed.
• Use pain scales and monitor patient comfort.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of unit and equipment.
• Prepare rooms for patient admissions and ensure safety during rounds.
• Report equipment or supply issues to the RN immediately.
• Make hourly rounds to verify safety measures and proper bed positioning.
• Ensure bed alarms are activated during rounds and use PPE.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
