CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital Chattanooga is seeking a Geriatric Physician Assistant to join a well-established hospital-employed group. The PA will deliver comprehensive geriatric care, managing complex elderly patients and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and contribute to quality of life and preventive care within approved protocols. A strong commitment to compassionate care is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required and PA license upon hire.
  • Ability to obtain a TN Physician Assistant license and DEA.
  • American Heart Association BLS (BLS-CPR) required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical histories and perform physical exams per protocol.
  • Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic conditions under physician supervision.
  • Order diagnostic tests and prescribe medications per protocol guidelines.
  • Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations.
  • Educate patients on healthy lifestyles and assist with office procedures.

Every day, you will apply your specialized expertise to assess, diagnose, and manage the complex health needs of elderly patients, focusing on chronic disease management, preventive care, polypharmacy issues, and maintaining quality of life. This involves comprehensive assessments, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic geriatric care.

To be successful in your role, you will meticulously provide direct patient care, utilizing your specialized training and skills to assess, diagnose, and manage geriatric patients under physician supervision. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical proficiency and a compassionate approach, ensuring comprehensive care coordination and optimal patient outcomes within your scope of practice.

  • Obtain medical histories when necessary. Perform physical exams (within established protocol).
  • Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
  • Order diagnostic test.
  • Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines).
  • Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations for children and adults.
  • Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling. Assist the doctor with office surgeries.
