Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy required.
• Current license in state of practice required.
• Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization.

Responsibilities

• Tests and evaluates residents for therapy and support needs; assesses availability of in-clinic or on-site facilities, equipment, and/or services.
• Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs designed to help residents regain physical or mental functioning or to adjust to their disabilities.
• Treats, educates, and counsels residents and families regarding physical, mental, and developmental disabilities.
• Monitors resident progress; maintains records and ensures confidentiality.
• Trains medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.
• Conducts and documents thorough functional assessments and evaluates home/vocational needs and equipment.
• Protects residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
• Supervise COTA(s) per state guidelines.
