Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing and NP certification required.
• Minimum of two years as an RN in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Conducts physical exams and comprehensive medical and social history; makes independent clinical decisions.
• Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory tests for screening and diagnosing.
• Prescribes and orders appropriate medications and other treatments.
• Performs therapeutic or corrective measures, including urgent care.
• Refers clients to appropriate specialists or providers.
• Provides information, instruction, and counseling on health maintenance and disease management.
• Initiates follow-up for noncompliant patients and serves as a preceptor for students.
• Collaborates with other health care providers about clients under care.
• Manages care plans, follow-ups, and determines need for referrals or hospital admission.
• Assesses social/economic factors and connects clients with resources.
