Job summary

UNC Health Care System’s Hillsborough Emergency Department is seeking a registered nurse for full-time night shifts (3:00p–3:00a). The ED is Level 2 accredited for geriatric care and offers a 1:1 preceptor program and tailored training.

Expected duties include delivering direct and indirect patient care across a range of acuities in a 16-bed ED. The role emphasizes education, care planning, teamwork, and leadership to support patient safety and high-quality outcomes within a supportive hospital

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a Master’s degree in Nursing within seven years.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify and meet learning needs of self and others. Attends education programs and uses patient education materials.
• Evaluation of Care: identify expected patient outcomes and discuss with the interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation: provide competent care for patients with complex problems and coordinate with resources for discharge planning.
• Leadership: contribute to unit goals and performance improvement and promote safe, cost-effective care.
