Job summary

Life Care Centers of America in Michigan City, IN is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Director of Activities in planning and delivering engaging programs that address the recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of patients in a post-acute care setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Valid driver''s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Proficiency in arts/crafts/music is preferred.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and Life Care standards for post-acute care facilities.
• Ability to implement and interpret department programs, goals, and procedures.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs (entertainment, exercise, relaxation, education).
• Chart patient progress and behavior descriptively.
• Escort patients to activities.
• Make in-room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate in group activities.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in evacuation of patients.
• Communicate and function on an interdisciplinary team.
• Adhere to safety, sanitation, and confidentiality policies.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
