About the Role

Our client, a prominent national retailer with a significant footprint in the Mexican market, is actively seeking an experienced and strategic Gerente de Compras Estratégicas y Cadena de Suministro . This senior leadership position, based in the heart of Mexico City , is responsible for overseeing all aspects of procurement, supplier management, inventory control, and logistics to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics, negotiation expertise, and a proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives within a complex organizational structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement overarching procurement strategies to achieve cost savings, improve supplier performance, and ensure supply continuity.
• Lead the sourcing and negotiation process for key categories of goods and services, building strong, long-term relationships with suppliers.
• Oversee the management of inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing carrying costs and obsolescence.
• Optimize logistics and transportation operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
• Implement and manage robust supply chain processes, leveraging technology to enhance visibility and efficiency.
• Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and supplier capabilities to inform strategic decisions.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of procurement and supply chain professionals.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful cost-saving initiatives and improving supply chain performance.
• Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain best practices, logistics, inventory management, and demand planning.
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English is essential for international supplier negotiations.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model in Mexico City .
