Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Bureau of Economic Geology seeks a Geothermal Postdoctoral Fellow at the Pickle Research Campus in North Austin to advance reservoir flow conformance and flow-control technologies for next-generation EGS.

The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research, model and analyze fracture connectivity, optimize heat sweep, and explore chemical, mechanical, and operational strategies to enhance long-term thermal recovery under high-temperature conditions.

Qualifications

• PhD in geothermal or related field with experience in geothermal energy or unconventional well completions.
• Experience with porous and/or fractured-media flow and subsurface fluid transport.
• Experience in reservoir flow conformance, flow control, and fluid diversion.
• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar.
• Excellent data management and scientific writing.

Responsibilities

• Characterize fracture connectivity and optimize fluid distribution to maximize heat sweep.
• Model and optimize engineering solutions including flow control strategies.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Identify funding opportunities and assist with proposals.
