Job summary

Brightcore Energy is hiring a Driller Assistant to support geothermal drilling operations across the Northeast US, working with the Lead Driller to set up and operate equipment, monitor performance, and maintain safety standards. The role requires prior drilling experience and a valid CDL when possible, with travel and field-based work.

The position offers competitive hourly pay ($37.00–$42.00) with overtime eligibility, benefits, and a structured remote/field work policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active CDL strongly preferred.
• OSHA 30; SST card and Flagger certification strongly preferred.
• Prior experience operating drilling equipment is a must.
• Understands utility locate laws, safety protocols, and quality regulations.
• 5+ years of construction or drilling experience; NGWA certification preferred.
• Experience with geothermal heat pumps.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Driller in daily drilling operations, including setting up and operating drilling equipment.
• Monitor and maintain equipment during the drilling process and troubleshoot as needed.
• Travel 100% in the greater Northeast US (CT, MA, NY, ME, VT, NH, NJ, MD).
• Handle and prepare drilling tools, pipes, and other equipment for use.
• Transport equipment and materials to and from the drill site.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure a compliant, organized worksite.
• Operate mud systems, pressure control equipment, and related systems.
• Keep accurate records of daily drilling activities and equipment performance.
• Support the team with general labor tasks and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Ensure safety and environmental standards are met during all drilling phases.
• Communicate effectively with the team and report issues promptly.
• All other duties and projects as assigned.
