Job summary

Brightcore Energy seeks a Thermal Modeling Engineer to accelerate advanced geothermal thermal performance modeling for core and data center applications. You will integrate borefields, dry coolers, and chillers into optimized systems, collaborating with engineering and project teams.

The role emphasizes developing models, translating results into design guidance, and expanding capabilities across geothermal and data center markets.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in thermal modeling.
• Strong grounding in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with energy/load modeling tools (TRNSYS, Modelica, EnergyPlus, eQuest, HAP or equivalent).
• Proficient with AutoCAD; able to learn new tools quickly.
• Familiarity with AI tools is a plus; EIT/PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform geothermal modeling for core projects, including data center thermal applications.
• Develop and enhance advanced thermal models for geothermal heating/cooling systems.
• Model integrated thermal systems with geothermal borefields, dry coolers, chillers, and HVAC tech.
• Support modeling capabilities for data center applications and high-density environments.
• Translate modeling results into actionable recommendations for customers and teams.
• Build, run, and maintain models in Modelica and TRNSYS; apply EED/pygfunction as needed.
• Write automated scripts to size systems based on client priorities.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to apply insights into designs.
