KILO ENGINEERING LLC in Marine on Saint Croix, MN seeks a driven Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join our growing team. You will engage in field, lab, and office tasks, supporting project teams from setup to reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
• EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• 0–3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related consulting.
• Familiarity with soil mechanics, foundation design, and subsurface investigation methods.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Complete new hire safety and skill training.
• Perform technician-level field and lab tasks without supervision.
• Perform entry-level engineering field, lab, and office tasks with limited supervision.
• Perform intermediate-level engineering field, lab, and office tasks with supervision.
• Project setup, including utility clearances, field plan preparation, scheduling, and client communications.
• Complete field explorations such as soil borings, testing, and bearing capacity testing.
• Oversee laboratory testing including soil classifications and moisture contents.
• Analyze geotechnical data for hazard evaluation and design values in reports.
• Communicate findings to clients and discuss development impacts.
• Network with engineers and potential clients to build relationships.
• Assist with proposal writing: scope, schedule, and cost estimates.
• Support senior engineers on more complex projects.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing per specs.
