Qualifications

  • BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
  • MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Completion of relevant coursework in geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, subsurface investigation methods.
  • 2-3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Competence in geotechnical analysis software such as SLIDE, SETTLE3, RSPIile, LPILE, SEEP/W.
  • Ability to move up to 60 pounds.
  • A valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support geotechnical investigation programs including planning, permitting, subcontractor coordination, implementation, field data collection, and oversight, data reporting.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design calculations for foundations, soil/rock slope stability, settlements, temporary excavation support systems, retaining walls etc.
  • Perform geologic and seismic hazard evaluations.
  • Write technical reports and other documents explaining the rationale for pertinent analyses, designs, and recommendations.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction drawings, and specifications for geotechnical infrastructure.
  • Work as integral member of the engineering team on complex, multi-discipline projects.

Penn E&R is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Staff Engineer. While you will be based out of our Pittsburgh, PA or Doylestown, PA office, we offer hybrid flexibility.You will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of tasks across all of Penn E&R’s market sectors and be expected to perform both office-based and field-based assignments.
